NFL men’s basketball opens season against Alcorn State: Preview, how to watch, game theme

The new college basketball season has finally arrived.

Florida State men’s hoops opens the season at home Tuesday night against Alcorn State as the Locks era officially begins. Lux takes over for Leonard Hamilton at the end of the 2024-25 season after Hamilton wandered the FFA sidelines for 23 seasons. Lux, who played under coach Hamilton at Florida State, has overhauled the roster and retained only two players from last year’s team (AJ Swinton and Alliere Mallock), as he attempts to implement his vision in one season.

There is a lot of optimism in Tallahassee about what the Locks era can bring, especially after the NFL team scored more than 100 points in an exhibition game against Alabama a few weeks ago. While outside expectations are lower, with Florida State picked to finish 15th out of 18 schools in the ACC’s preseason media poll, Loucks has assembled a roster loaded with speed and shooters to give the FSU program a much-needed boost in the arm.

To follow all things NFL men’s hoops, check out what TN’s Kurt Wheeler and Matt Minnick had to say before the season below:

Tips for today’s game kick off at 7:00pm from the Donald L. Tucker Center and can be found on ACCNX.

Normally, this section would be dedicated to the opposing team, but with so many new faces on FSU’s roster, it makes sense to highlight a few of the first-year Seminoles.
