Dallas Cowboys safety Alijah Clarke isn’t a household name among NFL fans, but he summed up Sunday what it means to never give up on a play.

With just over five minutes left in the Cowboys’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles with the game tied at 21, Dallas punted the ball wide to Xavier Gipson. The returner missed a number of people, but when he tried to get back on the field, Clark knocked the ball out of his hands.

Cowboys kicker Trent Sage jumped on the ball to give Dallas great field position. Dallas failed to get points on the board. However, they won the game 24-21 thanks to a field goal from Brandon Oubre.

Clarke was hailed as an unsung hero on Sunday night and Monday morning as replays of the penalty kick showed he was pushed to the ground as he attempted to get onto the field. He was able to battle through the Eagles’ special teams unit to cause a turnover.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer was impressed.
