Ole Miss’s hit on Oklahoma tops the best tacklers in college football in Week 9
When your College Football Playoff hopes are boosted by a big conference win on the road, a postgame elf is warranted.
Ole Miss accomplished the feat on Saturday, beating Oklahoma 34-26, and poured some salt on the Sooners’ wound afterward.
The Rebels’ balanced offense racked up 431 yards against Oklahoma’s impressive defense in the win, with quarterback Trinidad Chambliss throwing for 314 yards and running back Kewan Lacy punching in two touchdowns. Ole Miss outscored Oklahoma 9-0 in the fourth period, erasing a one-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter.
After the game, the Rebels’ social media handler had a clever comment ready, centered around the Sooners’ title game.

This wasn’t the only troll posting after the game on social media in Week 9. Here are all the top picks from college football:

In a battle between two teams with similar mascots, it was the Bearcats who gained bragging rights over the Bears β and with those bragging rights came the right to a postgame midget. Brendan Sorsby threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another as Cincinnati moved to 7-1 on the season with a home win against Baylor.
Cincinnati’s social media team chose to reference Baylor’s mascot (and its victory) with a reference to a viral clip.

It was a dominant contending performance by Iowa State in the battle for the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy, intercepting three Minnesota passes and holding the Golden Gophers to just 133 yards of total offense. The Hawkeyes’ offense, defense and special teams scored at least one touchdown in the victory.
Iowa State made some digital tweaks to Minnesota’s logo after the game, posting a video showing Minnesota’s “M” being replaced with an L and the usually smiling Gopher crying.

Memphis won one of the biggest Group of Five games of the season thanks to a late lead. After trailing 31-17 heading into the fourth quarter, the Tigers scored the next 17 points of the game and took the lead with just over a minute left. South Florida created a last-gasp drive to set up a potential field goal attempt, but Niko Gramatica’s 52-yard effort sailed wide.
With victory assured, Memphis took to social media to post a graphic of the final score, showing a tiger looming over a bull, with the caption “bulls strike.”

Kent State also used a late push to win the Week 9 game. After trailing MAC opponent Bowling Green 21-3 midway through the third quarter, the Golden Flashes took control of the remainder of the contest with a 24-21 win. A trick play put Kent State ahead for good. Da’Realyst Clark took a snap pass the other way before throwing it to fellow wide receiver Wayne Harris in the end zone for the final winning score.
The Kent State midget pointed out to her conference rivals after the game the Falcons’ popular unofficial mascot, an exotic 3-year-old Persian shorthair cat named Pudge, with a witty comment.

Missouri State improved to 4-3 on Tuesday night thanks to a 7-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Clark to Ronnell Johnson in overtime, lifting the Bears over New Mexico State in a battle of .500 teams. The TD capped a productive day for Clark, who totaled 283 yards and three touchdowns.
After the game, Missouri State took a few shots of its opponent’s cowboy-themed Aggie mascot β first posting the final score with the caption “Walk in your saloon and take over your saloon” and then adding a graphic showing “Bears win.” Written on A pair of shoes.
