And in what comes as a shock at least to the track world, he stays home.
Wilson committed Monday night to running back at Maryland.
He chose the Terrapins over Texas A&M, South Carolina, USC and UCLA.
Wilson starred in high school at nearby Bullis School and will now run for the Terps.
He had a tough break at the US Championships this year to miss the world meet, but he is already one of the fastest runners in the world. At the age of 17 earlier this year, Wilson ran the 400 meters for 44.10 seconds, the third fastest time in the world this year.
Wilson is the fastest American high school student ever in the indoor and outdoor 400 metres.

He qualified for the men’s 4 x 400 meter relay for the 2024 Summer Olympics, making him the youngest American athlete in Olympic history.
Wilson just ran into the Olympic qualifiers, and that team went on to win gold. This meant that Wilson was the youngest Olympic track and field gold medalist ever.
So he’s going to Maryland with an Olympic gold medal.
The Terps are hoping there is more running glory in Wilson’s future.
