Parmigiano Reggiano is reportedly looking for opportunities in film and television


The king of cheese is ready to take the spotlight.

The Parmigiano Reggiano Federation, the Italian cheese’s governing body, has reportedly signed with United Talent Agency in order to pursue opportunities to employ the products in film and television projects. According to a statement by Hollywood Reporterthe organization looks forward to “offering Parmigiano Reggiano to a wide range of partners [and] Promoting its mission of culinary excellence, high-quality ingredients, production and distribution.

Formaggio fans know that Parmigiano Reggiano is a hard cow’s milk cheese whose origins can be traced back to the Middle Ages. Because it enjoys designation of origin protection, only cheese made in the Italian provinces of Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna and Mantua can legally be called Parmigiano Reggiano. (This is why the common grated type you might remember shaking from a green bowl onto some spaghetti as a kid is called Parmesan.)

According to her WebsiteThe Parmigiano-Reggiano Consortium traces its roots back to the early 1900s when chambers of commerce in Italian cities were looking for a way to verify the origin of hard cheese produced in their region. The organization was officially founded in 1928.

Among the members of the association Goals It is “organizing and participating in initiatives aimed at promoting Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, and enhancing its fame, image, reputation, spread and consumption in Italy and abroad.”
