Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine, starting next month.

Moscow has announced that it would stop the fighting between May 8 and May 10 to celebrate the eighties of the end of World War II.

“All hostilities are stopped,” the Kremlin said in a statement. “Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should follow its example. In the event of violations of the ceasefire by the Ukrainian side, the armed forces of the Russian Federation will provide sufficient and effective response.”
