Real Madrid Ancelotti Group for Exodus talks with Perez
Carlo Ancelotti will meet Real Madrid President Florentino Perez in the coming days to discuss the departure of the coach from the club, a source said to ESPN.
Madrid was beaten 3-2 after an additional time by Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday, a 5-1 defeat in the Champions League by Arsenal in the quarter-finals earlier this month. The team remains four points from the Laliga summit with leaving five games.
Ancelotti has a contract in Madrid until 2026, but he faced continuous speculation about his future throughout this season. ESPN reported last week that the talks had resumed the Brazilian Football Association and the Ancelotti camp regarding its assumption of the Brazilian national team.
A source told ESPN that anceotti and Pérez will meet in the next few days, with the expected result an agreement to leave the coach to the club after the last Laliga match this season, against Real Sociedad.
Anceotti is one of the most successful coaches in the club’s history, winning three championships championships and two titles in Laliga in Santiago Bernabéu.
Whether continued [at Madrid] Ancelotti said when he was asked about his future at a press conference after the loss of Madrid on Saturday:
On April 19, the Italian admitted that he and the club “will analyze things at the end of the season” and will not confirm that he will be responsible for the FIFA World Cup this summer.
“We are still competing for the prizes,” said Ancelotti. “I don’t want to talk about my future. We will talk about it with the club at the end of the season.
“I always had a great relationship with the club. There will be no confrontation.”
The source will not confirm who will take over for Ancelotti, although they said that the scenario is likely in the short term-with the World Cup campaign in Madrid scheduled to start on June 18-a temporary date like Football Director Santiago Solari, Castilla coach Castilla or coach less than 19 years old.
