Report: Suns trade Josh Okogie to Hornets for center Nick Richards
The Phoenix Suns are bringing in a new center.
The Suns made a deal with the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday afternoon and traded for 7-foot center Nick Richards, According to ESPN’s Shams Charania. In return, the Suns will send Josh Okogie to the Hornets with three future second-round picks. The Suns will also receive a future second-round pick from the Hornets in the deal.
Richards averaged 8.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season, his fifth with the Hornets. He was selected first in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, though he has largely come off the bench for the Hornets throughout his career. He has made nine starts this season in Charlotte.
Okogie has averaged six points and 2.9 rebounds per game this season, his third with the Suns. He averaged about 14 minutes per game off the bench.
