Stock up and down after the New York Giants’ Week 6 win over the Eagles
the New York Giants Startled Philadelphia Eagles34-17, Thursday night at MetLife Stadium. It was a rare prime-time victory for a team Giantsand an even rarer win over their NFC East rivals, who have owned the game in recent years.
Led by their best emerging players, the Giants took an early lead, took complete control at the end of the second half and never looked back. It was arguably the team’s best win since 2022 and could be the start of a much-needed turnaround at the 1925 Giants Drive.
But things won’t get easier in the seventh week. They will travel to Colorado to face the talented Denver Broncos.
Here’s a look at whose stock rose and whose stock fell after Week 6 of the regular season.
Stocking: RB Cam Skatebo
Rookie Cam Skattebo stole the show Thursday night with his relentless motor, physical running style, and quirky personality. He gained 110 yards on 21 touches and scored three touchdowns. He may not be the biggest or the fastest, but Scat has the “it” factor and the “won’t be denied” attitude.
STOCK DOWN: CB Paulson Adepo
Although the Giants’ defense played well as a whole, film may not have been kind to cornerback Paulson Adepo. He spent most of the night shadowing wide receiver AJ Brown, and in total, surrendered seven receptions for 70 yards to go along with a 25-yard defensive pass interference penalty.
Stocking: QB Jackson Dart
There’s a new sheriff in town, and his name is Jackson Dart. The rookie quarterback came to play in his prime-time debut and beat Jalen Hurts in front of the entire nation. Like Skattebo, he showed real grit and determination, launching his body down first after the first down. He finished the game with 195 yards passing, 58 rushing, and two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing).
Falling stock: CB Deonte Banks
It looks like the experiment is finally over. Deonte Banks only took three defensive snaps in Week 6 and made no impact, which is actually a positive. Usually, it is marked. It may come as a disgrace to general manager Joe Schoen, but it seems like the time to call Banks a “bust” is official. It didn’t work.
Stocking: CB Cordell Flute
While Banks struggles, Flute thrives. He’s having his best season as a pro and punctuated that Thursday night with a key red zone interception of Hurts that he returned for 68 yards. The Giants were up by 10 points at the time, and at worst, Philly was in a position to turn the game down to one score. Instead, Flute returns the ball to the attack, they punch it, and close the coffin.
STOCK DOWN: TE Theo Johnson
There weren’t many “stock drop” options in Week 6, and the only reason we’re going with tight end Theo Johnson, who had two receptions for 27 yards, is because he had an ugly touchdown on third-and-short in the first half. He has to clean that up.
