Takeaways from the first half as the Eagles take a 14-6 lead over the Vikings



As the second half begins, we take a look at takeaways and notes from the first half at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Philadelphia allowed 177 yards on defense, and Jalen Hurts was sacked three times in the first half, but Eagles He made enough plays in the first 30 minutes to take a 14-6 lead. Injuries again played a role, as three Philadelphia players were out with injuries, most notably center Cam Jurgens and pass rusher Azeez Ojulari. Saquon Barkley

Barkley received touches on the first four plays and also had more throughout the first half. Overall, Barkley had eight first-half carries for 30 yards and one catch for -2 yards.

Tank Bigsby on offense

Bigsby was demoted to special teams, but he did have one carry in the first half for 11 yards.

The Eagles’ first drive wasn’t a three-and-out

Philadelphia entered the game with a league-leading 23 three-pointers, but scored 12 in the first drive, using up 8:01 of the clock. Overall, Pattullo’s offense had five first downs, was 0-5 on third downs, and racked up 117 yards on 25 offensive plays.

AJ Brown/DeVonta Smith

Brown had one catch for a huge 37-yard touchdown to give the Eagles an early lead. Overall, Brown had one catch, DeVonta Smith had four for 31 yards, and Goedert had two receptions for 13 yards.

Carson Wentz

The former Eagles No. 2 had some good plays, but an interception was returned for a touchdown, and another ugly deep interception by Andrew Mukuba. Overall, Wentz was 11-19 passing for 162 yards, two interceptions and a 46.3 QB rating.

Nakobi Dean/Jihad Campbell

During pregame warmups, Philadelphia featured Nakobi Dean at inside linebacker with Jahad Campbell at rusher. The rookie spent the bulk of the first half as a pass rusher, recording one tackle. Dean had two tackles while Zach Baun led the Eagles with six tackles in the first half.

Cooper Dejean outside cornerback

DeJean played outside in base coverage and made an incredible play on Justin Jefferson to prevent a touchdown.
