The “Annie Hall” and “Godfather” star was 79 years old


Diane Keaton, actress known for her roles in Annie Hall and The godfatherHe died on October 11 in Los Angeles. She was 79 years old.

The Oscar winner’s family revealed that she died in California, but no other details have been revealed yet. Keaton’s death was first reported by the people.

Born Diane Hall on January 5, 1946 in Los Angeles, Keaton moved to New York to pursue a career in entertainment, where she studied acting at Neighborhood Playhouse and made her Broadway debut as an understudy in hair.

Keaton went on to star in Woody Allen’s production of Play it again, Sam In 1969, she received a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play. Allen later cast her in her Oscar-winning role Annie Hall (1977), and they also worked together over the years Manhattan (1979), Radio days (1987) and Hollywood Mavericks (1990).

After her first appearance on screen in Lovers and other strangers (1970), Keaton gave a breakout performance in Francis Ford Coppola’s film The godfather (1972), Role Reenactment in The Godfather Part Two (1974) and The Godfather Part Three (1993).

Keaton is also known for her performances in films such as I’m looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977), Crimes of the heart (1986), Baby Boom (1987), Father of the bride (1991), First Wives Club (1996), Marvin’s room (1996), Something has to give (2003), Family stone (2005), Book club (2018) and Mac and Rita (2022).

The actress made her directorial debut with the 1987 documentary film skyabout the possibility of the afterlife. She also directed a 1991 second-season episode of Twin Peaks, the 2000 family comedy Hanging And several Belinda Carlisle music videos.

Aside from acting and filmmaking, Keaton was a talented writer, photographer, and singer, and published photo books Reservations (1980) and Save (2022).

Keaton is survived by her two children.
