Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown was upset with the team’s loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday and criticized his team’s defense for failing to make a stop at the end of the game.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams fired a shot to tight end Colston Loveland, who bounced off two defenders to score what would have been the game-winning touchdown. Chicago won the game 47-42.

Chicago’s go-ahead touchdown came after Cincinnati rallied from a 41-27 deficit. They scored a touchdown and recovered an onside kick. Joe Flacco found Andre Iosefas for a nine-yard touchdown pass to go up 42-41.

The Bengals defense couldn’t get a stop, which led to Brown getting angry at reporters.

“They played really well early in the season, carrying us on their backs. Now that we’re starting to get going, we just have to play complementary football,” he said when asked what he was thinking when he saw the Bears’ go-ahead goal. Via Sports Illustrated.

“We put the ball in the end zone and go up one point at the end, and end the damned game. Like, just finish it off. That’s what we gotta do. Just finish the damned game. Give us the ball back. Let’s get the win by 22, and let’s finish the game off. That’s how I feel.”

Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase lamented his defense’s efforts as he returned to the locker room in the immediate aftermath of the game.

He was heard saying: “One stop.”

But he said no more when he spoke to reporters in the locker room.

“I’m just trying to stay positive,” Chase said. “I’m going to stay in my lane. I don’t want any defensive player coming at me about what I’m doing.”

Flacco took the veteran route during his media availability.

“It’s one team,” Flacco said. “You need to focus on yourself and do your job. I get that, it can be emotional. I go to these people and have good conversations about going to work and being proud of what you’re doing. If you do that, you don’t have time to get angry at people you shouldn’t be angry at. You can’t worry about anyone else.”

Most members of the defense left the building without speaking to reporters.

“I caught y’all on Monday,” said Shemar Stewart and defensive tackle TJ Slaton and laughed, according to Bengals defensive end. to WCPO-TV.

Linebacker Barrett Carter was one of the few who said the team needed to stop the run.
