The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 in Game 2 of the World Series on Saturday night to tie the series at one game apiece.

While Dodgers outfielder Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a one-run complete game in Los Angeles’ historic outing at Rogers Center, all eyes were on star Shohei Ohtani after he was booed and taunted by the Toronto crowd in the first game.

During the Blue Jays’ 11-4 win in Friday’s opener, the crowd broke into a chant of “We don’t need him!” A reference to Ohtani turning down the Blue Jays’ draft offer in the winter of 2023, when he joined the Dodgers instead.

Ohtani didn’t get a hit until the eighth inning on Saturday, but it was a big hit because it helped spark a Dodgers rally to extend the lead from 3-1 to 5-1.

The score was held, as Ohtani’s Japanese teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto picked up the win, pitching a complete game for the second straight outing.

It was the first complete game in the World Series since Johnny Cueto in 2015 and the first time a pitcher had pitched a complete game in consecutive postseason games since Curt Schilling in 2001.
