The global battle against the climate crisis needs China. I will go to Beijing, and this is what I will tell them Ed Miliband

R.It is the climate crisis that represents an existential threat to our way of life in Britain. The harsh weather already changes the lives of people and societies across the country, from thousands of acres of agricultural land that is overwhelmed by storms such as Bert and Daraj to record numbers of heat -related deaths in the last summer.

The only way to respond to this challenge is the decisive action at home and abroad. At the local level, the mission of the super power force in this government revolves around investing in local clean energy so that we can liberate the United Kingdom to rely on fossil fuel markets while seizing the enormous opportunities for jobs and growth.

But climate at home without pushing larger countries to conduct their fair share will not protect the current and future generations. Emotions do not know any limits, and we will protect our farms, retirees and children only if we get other countries in the world to play their role.

That is why I am traveling this week to Beijing: to urge the continuation of work from China, the world’s biggest emitter – Responsible for about 30 % of global emissions – To treat climate emergency. I will meet the Chinese ministers with explicit talks on how both countries achieve the goals of the Climate Agreement in Paris, which were registered on both countries.

China is responsible for more emissions from the United States, the European Union, India and the United Kingdom, but I have been the first energy minister since 2017 to visit China. Frankly, I consider neglecting for generations today and future because China is not involved on this topic. The chancellor also said before her last trip, the choice of not dealing with China is not an option at all.

People often ask me why the UK should act according to the climate crisis when we only take 1 % of the current global emissions. But the fact that we only contribute 1 % of emissions is not an excuse to shrink from the global theater. They are instructions for Britain to use our influence to build a global alliance to pay the work that the world needs. Our local ambition, which was renewed by this government after years of failure by the last government, is what gives us credibility to force others to act. This is related to the protection of the British people now and for future generations.

Of course, on my visit, I will be in the field of challenge as well as cooperation, and increase issues including Forced work in supply chainsRussia’s invasion of Ukraine and Hong Hong Kong Human Rights. But the dispute cannot be an excuse to decode.

In recent years, we have retreated because many of our allies, including France, Germany and Australia, have continued to communicate with China despite the participation of many of our differences.

The truth is that the decline did nothing to pay our priorities, which is why our government takes a new approach with China.

During the next few days, I will meet with my Chinese counterparts to discuss how all countries can rise to climate challenge. We will launch an official climate dialogue, calling on the Chinese ministers to London later this year and for the first time, the institutional character’s climate change talks between the two countries.

We will also sign the fresh UK Clean energy partnershipUpdate our approach to engaging in these issues for the first time in a decade. It comes to learn lessons from each other on how to remove carbon, from capturing carbon to hydrogen. At all times there will be a strict national security test for any cooperation.

My visit speaks to a broader fact: on the climate, as in a lot, we can only struggle for our national interest by participating on the international stage. As the Prime Minister showed when he is He led the world at COP29 Last winter, we must work with other countries if we want to maintain the integrity of our people. Farmers, retirees and future generations in Britain are not worth less. This is the message that I will present in Beijing.
