The Leaders’ Tyler Biadasz praises Jayden Daniels’ maturity

Jayden Daniels may only have 23 games (including playoffs) under his belt, but his veteran position has seen him mature as a rookie throughout the entire 2024 season.

Daniels was the second overall pick by the Washington Commanders last year and led them to the NFC title game with an Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign.

“He’s very cool, calm and collected. You can see him on TV too, his face is completely off, he’s in the zone. That’s just who he is. He’s very positive, always smiling, always having fun, that’s just the state of his flow. But it was great, you had that veteran feel from him on day one,” center leaders Tyler Biadasz told Fox News Digital in a recent interview.

Biadasz came to the Commanders last year after spending his first four years with the Dallas Cowboys, so the veteran center and rookie quarterback had to work quickly to fit in with each other.

This has certainly been a learning curve for Biadasz, who went from blocking a passer in Dak Prescott to a guy who had nearly 900 receiving yards last season.

“When you go through camp and you spend the whole year with him as well, I think the biggest advantage is how certain plays evolve through timing, right? And for O-linemen, your job is to block forever, right? And there’s certain timing to certain plays that might be more specific to the action or the play action. That requires more repetitions and certain looks and certain interfaces and shapes where you want to get more out of the Rolodex. It seems like you have a better feel.” With things.” Biadas said.

“But in general, how he plays the game, certain timing or just how he sees the defense and maybe third-down looks or even first-and-10, there’s a fair amount of stuff that you cover in your first year with each other when he came in last year. And this year, I felt like we really started to work in terms of knowing how each other sees that, but also how he communicates and makes the calls at home and on the road. We’re always in that mode of piling up great days and great games, “We’ll come back and see how we can adjust things going forward and continue that connection every week.”

But it may be even more important for the duo to grow off the field. Therefore, they teamed up to star in a commercial for Campbell, which also featured Daniels’ mother.

“It was really nice to connect right before the season started, because you have summer break, and I got to connect with Jayden again right before the season started,” Biadasz said. “And getting to have this unique commercial, a lot of laughter, a lot of fun, was a great bonding moment and definitely special. And also as Campbell’s Traditional Soup grew, I would always see it in commercials and stuff, so it’s cool…

“The connection is huge, the chemistry is huge, and who you are off the field with the quarterback as a quarterback, it goes a long way. It goes a long way with every position as well, but I think the quarterback and the quarterback are very unique in how much they are. It’s almost a lot of telepathy in the way of knowing what the calls are and everything, but that goes into the feeling of connection.”

Biadasz and Daniels certainly have it all figured out. But now they are tuning their engine to make it pure horsepower.

“The biggest part [entering this season] “It was about knowing how we did things and how we executed them, and what specific areas we could be more efficient in and take that path higher,” he said. “Having those conversations at OTAs and going through them… you’re getting into the little marginal details that you guys might not think about, but in terms of the game, I’ve seen… [Jacory Croskey-Merritt] Find a small piece of crater, and he can explode for seven, 15, and even longer. How can our backs work this way, but even how can we achieve more massive gains. And when you do that, you’ll get the results you want.”
