The Nama M1 is the best nut milk maker we’ve tested in 2025
When Andrew tested Whatman, he made three types of milk for each. For almond milk, use unroasted and unsalted almonds. For cashews, use unroasted and unsalted cashews. For the macadamia, use dry roasted, unsalted macadamia nuts. I used old fashioned oats, raw unsalted almonds, and unsweetened coconut flakes.
For the machines, we looked for well-engineered, long-lasting products, as well as an ergonomic and intuitive design. Many require taking the machine parts apart and cleaning them thoroughly, especially since soft plant material can tend to stick. Any machine with a thoughtful design and cleaning is rated higher.
I also took into account the length of time it takes to produce milk, as well as the product’s simplicity of use (and ease of cleaning). We also checked the taste and softness and compared them to each other and to store-bought milk. I also added additional sweeteners like agave, dates, and lavender simple syrup to see how the flavors changed with each machine.
These plant-based milks and fresh nuts will have a shorter shelf life than store-bought plant-based milks (usually about five days) due to the lack of added preservatives. We looked for machines that weren’t just blenders, but were specifically designed to make the best plant-based milk possible.
