Trump’s popularity drops to its lowest levels in his second term at 37% | Donald Trump


Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to one of its lowest levels, with only 37% of Americans approving of his performance as president.

When asked how things are going in the United States today, a majority of Americans, 68%, answered “very good/very bad,” while 32% said “very good/fairly well.”

The poll, conducted as the federal government appears to be entering what will be the longest shutdown in American history, also found that 47% of Americans view the economy and cost of living as the most important issue facing the country.

In second place is the state of American democracy, indicated by 26% of Americans. By comparison, just 10% cited immigration as a major concern, even though the issue remains a major focus of the Trump administration, which has been marked by intense ICE raids, sharp cuts in refugee admissions and ongoing immigration battles in federal courts.

Other issues lower on the list include crime and safety, which only 7% of Americans cited as a concern, despite Trump’s pledge to rid America’s major cities – which he described as a “hell hole” and “ravaged by war” – of “crime, bloodshed, and bedlam.”

Of those surveyed, only 27% said they believed Trump’s policies had improved the country’s economic conditions. On the other hand, 61% believe that his policies made the economy worse, while 12% believe that they had no effect. The poll comes amid growing anxiety in rural rural towns as Trump’s tariffs have led to factory layoffs and slowed production in various industries.

Regarding foreign policy, 32% said they believed that Trump’s decisions helped strengthen the United States’ standing on the global level. In contrast, 56% believe it harmed the United States’ standing in the world, while 12% said it made no difference at all. These findings follow the White House repeatedly Claims Trump ended eight wars within eight months of his presidency.

Moreover, the poll found that a majority of Americans, 61%, believe that Trump has gone too far in using his presidential powers. Meanwhile, 31% say his use of power was correct, and 9% believe it did not go far enough.

Since taking office in January, Trump’s expansion of presidential power — through actions including authorizing international strikes without congressional approval, deploying National Guard troops despite opposition from state officials, and issuing executive orders that make independent regulatory agencies accountable to the White House — has raised widespread concerns.

The poll results on public attitudes toward Trump’s presidential power also come as experts warn that his investigations into political opponents risk turning the Justice Department into his “personal weapon.”

With the midterm elections approaching next November, 41% of Americans said that if they voted for Congress today, their vote would be a way to show opposition to Trump. Meanwhile, 21% said their vote would signal their support for Trump, and 38% said their vote would not be about sending him any message.
