UTA is the latest player in Hollywood to sound an alarm about Sora

UTA has followed the CAA and MPA in sounding the alarm over Sora 2, the latest version of the Open AI video creation app, saying today that “use of proprietary property without compensation is exploitation, not innovation.”

“There is no substitute for human talent in our business, and we will continue to fight tirelessly for our clients to ensure they are protected. When it comes to Sora by OpenAI or any other platform that seeks to leverage our clients’ intellectual property and likeness, we stand with the artists,” the agency said.

“The future of industries based on creative expression and artistry depends on regulation, protection, and legitimate compensation. Using this property without consent, credit, or compensation is exploitation, not innovation.”

Sam Altman’s Open AI, the parent company of ChatGPT, has just unveiled Sora 2 – the latest and most Hollywood-threatening version of Sora. Yesterday, the US Civil Aviation Authority said it was “unwavering in our commitment to protecting our customers and the safety of their creativity. The misuse of new technologies carries consequences far beyond entertainment and media, posing serious and harmful risks to individuals, businesses and communities globally. It is clear that OpenAI/Sora exposes our customers and their intellectual property rights to significant risks.”
