Will the judge be: Should I let my friend extinguish the original features in our Victorian house? | Life and elegance

Prosecution: Ruby

Old equipment is artworks – their replacement in a faded modern self will be blasphemy

My friend Raf and I just bought our first home and love it. We found a two -bedroom Victorian house with original features, including heater and engineering tiles in the hallway. I see that all the original features should all remain because they are beautiful. It is very rare to find the homes of the period and we should not tear everything.

RAF varies. It is all about the conclusion and its taste is more modern. We have beautiful stained glass windows, but the British Royal Air Force says it bleeds heat and must be replaced. Our heating bills will decrease 45 % if we get double glass. I fade. I looked at a way to wrap the stained glass instead of getting rid of it, but it is more expensive while we are on a budget.

We have also got amazing wooden parquet floors that need a lot of care. But the British Royal Air Force wants to clean it, which may harm them. When I saw him evaporates them on Saturday, she shouted, “You can’t do that!”

We have also argued about replacing engineering tiles and whether they should tear the stove in the front room. I love the tile color and the piece of the stove will be rowing, but it wants a more elegant look. The former owners updated the rest of the room, but they left the stove, so Raf says it is not aesthetically appropriate, and also occupies a large area (it is somewhat large and comes out a little). But my dream is to restore other features in the room, such as open bricks, and return them to its original atmosphere.

RAF and I have different tastes, but with the lease of our last place we could not change the decoration. We talked about some of this before we buy the house, but I was convinced that I could make the Royal Air Force roam, at least in the stove. Now realize our difference. I want to pay attention to the history of the house, but Rav wants to put our own character.

I think the original features are artistic works and should be preserved, but Rav says I feel excessive emotion about it. I need to persuade the British Royal Air Force that the Ministry of the Interior convergence is superior.

Defense: Raf

The stove is very large, the windows leakage, and the ground does not go with anything. Let’s fix them

It is not a matter that I do not like the features of the period at home, but I only think it is unless there is anything practical, it must be canceled.

If the stained glass windows do not serve any function other than being beautiful, and double glass will cut heating bills in half, then of course we must get double glass. Packaging was a more expensive option, but I am open to it if I kept a happy RUPI.

The stove is a greater disagreement point. I can’t wait to tear it. It is specific and very big – I want to live the space in our living room already. Ruby says that once we get these features, we cannot return, and that people will kill some of the periods of the period in our home.

Yes, the house is great and we bought it because we loved his personality, but I want to update some things. Do not go blue and red Victorian tiles in the hallway with the color scheme we agreed upon. We agreed to tear them when we made an offer to the house, but now it will return to its decision.

I made a joke that Ruby was “emotional” in everything because she behaves as if the house would put a kind of curse on us if we switched windows or out the stove. She treats me as if you were a killer!

In our last place, we had a dispute or two on the colors of the lamp pillow and options, but nothing like. I can settle on the tiles. I can even wander in the treatment of old floors (although in an ideal world I would like to put rugs in most rooms) but I definitely want to take out the stove. It is very large and does not go with the room or any of our furniture. I think this is a good reason enough to cancel it.

It is a house and not a museum, and we must decorate it in a way that best serve our needs in 2025. The energy bills are expensive and the space is rare. We cannot keep the features that occupy the space and cost us money just because one of us loves it. It is just meaningless.

The jury for the readers ’readers

Does RAF have to have more sympathy for the Victorian RUPI values?

Why buy the house just to tear most of its interesting features? RUPI is right to want to preserve its history, as did the previous owners.

The British Royal Air Force seems ready to settle, while Ruby is not at all. In fact, housing in space can change how we see, so both of them may need to live in it for a while and then see what they feel towards those features that they think hate.
Molly, 56

The main gravity of the home is the original features; Removing these unique ingredients destroys both personality and value. Colorful glass liquidation or packaging can help insulation. Keep the stove (but may be placed in a stove).
Ronan, 37

I agree that it is rare to find the homes of the period at the present time and these features make your home unique – they do not deserve to be replaced by simply with a piece of furniture owned by everyone. Sorry RAF but modern aesthetic is exaggerated, and it is likely to reduce the value of the house as well.
Holly, 19

The joy of living in a home period adopts its strange features. Removing stained glass windows is a sacilege. In terms of floors, carpets are your friends. If he just wants to be warm, the British Royal Air Force must buy a new building without a soul next time.
