Wonder Studios raises $12 million from backers including Atomico and Adobe
Wonder Studios, a British company working to integrate artificial intelligence into storytelling, has completed a $12 million raise.
Founded by Xavier Collins and Justin Hackney in April, Wonder’s new investors include Atomico; Adobe Ventures; Eric Hagers, the lead engineer behind BBC iPlayer; and Upside Ventures, founded by YouTube stars, The Sidemen.
It builds on Wonder’s pre-raise, which was backed by LocalGlobe, Blackbird and Mati Staniszewski, co-founder of ElevenLabs.
This investment will be used to double Wonder’s engineering team and build out its intellectual property, such as an upcoming documentary in collaboration with Campfire Studios (The Menendez brothers).
Wonder Studios said it has seen significant demand for its services in the past six months. The company produced an AI-powered music video for Lewis Capaldi Something in the skyCreated in collaboration with Google DeepMind, YouTube and Universal Music Group.
Other projects include Beyond the episodea YouTube anthology series set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has fallen under the control of advanced androids. Renewed for a second season, Beyond the episode It collected 1.5 million views.
Wonder also has an app, which it said serves as a hub for connecting AI creators to career opportunities, collaborators and resources.
