On April 3, 1882, the city allowed Los Angeles to connect to the city’s borders. A week later, La printed the first phone book. Most of the early signs were thrown once a new arrival, however Peter Harrington wrote rare He has a rare version to survive, entitled “Los Angeles Telephone Book (1882)”, at a price of about $ 13,000.
The single printed paper lists only 90 names, most of which are companies near the historic city center such as the liver, salons, doctors, mills, the introduction and its local Einrad. Instructions to contact the Central Office are included, along with one or two numbers for the first president of USC, MM BOVARD (Dial “58”), and Los Angeles Club (DIAL “38”). It is seen at the auction only twice in modern records, and it is a rare evidence from the first California – where it was a record of the oldest communications in the city, such as a social snapshot of Lyston Angeles.
