Greenland’s parliament agrees to a ban on foreign political donations where Trump is looking for the island

Before taking office for his second term on January 20, Trump said he would not rule out the use of military force to control Greenland, and described it as vital to American national security. His eldest son, Donald Trump Junior, visited Greenland last month and told the citizens: “We will treat you well.”

Denmark has been an American ally for a long time and a founding member of NATO, and its semi -kinetic lands are home to a large American military base.

Greenland’s population-with a population of about 57,000 total areas of 836,000 square miles, and its size in Greenland-the size of the United States, according to the World Fact Book.

Kent Freberg, one of the senior legal officials in Parliament in Greenland, told Associated Press that he does not know whether any foreign donor had contributed to the political parties in Greenland and that the idea of ​​the bill “is mainly a preventive measure.”

Freberg indicated that some Russian politicians have expressed similar attention – and that the political parties in Greenland are generally funded by public means.

This new procedure is also prohibited by any one party from receiving local private contributions that exceed 200,000 Danish Crohn (about $ 27,700) in total, or 20,000 kronor (about $ 2,770) from one shareholder.
